Schools

More schools are integrating servicelearning programs. There is a distinct need for a full service management tool now. CompassionWorx provides a hub that unites all stakeholders. TEACHERS have an easy-to-use, cost-effective tool that tracks and manages their students'; service learning hours. STUDENTS are able to validate their service hours for colleges and future employers through a Lifetime Service Profile. SCHOOL ADMINISTRATORS are aided by access to accurate metrics that demonstrate the community-wide benefits of their school's service program.

As corporate citizens make service in the community a greater priority, we provide a simple solution to help track and manage the service hours performed by their employees. Access to the aggregated data of the employees service helps demonstrate community impact, and account for all the pro-bono hours performed each year. Our output metrics also drive the content and stories of socially responsible corps.

Individuals can build a Lifetime Service Profile to share and archive their stories of service with friends and family.

Our Story

As a mother of four, our founder Kip Longinotti-Buitoni watched her kids and their friends dutifully fulfill their school-mandated community service hours in a less-than inspired way. So why weren't they more passionate about service? It turns out they were VERY passionate about community service, about learning through doing, and about connecting to the world outside their school walls.

So, she dug a little deeper to find out what was going on. What she found was a school system already strapped for resources (both human and financial), with no tool to support a meaningful community service program. Inspired teachers used their time outside the classroom to run the programs, but they were overwhelmed with the task; the student experience was suffering. Needless to say, community organizations in need of energetic student volunteers suffered too.

So, four years ago Kip set out to create an online application that would help her kids find exciting, interesting community service opportunities and would give them a way to record, reflect and share their experiences. The application would also give schools a much-needed management tool to measure and validate the volunteer process.

While in the process of researching and developing CompassionWorx, KIP was introduced to Trevor Hall through a mutual friend who just believed that "you two gotta talk." Trevor had spent his career creating experiential adventure programs that connect youth through a combination of travel, service and the documentary arts (storytelling!).

There was a natural link between the humanitarian service adventures that Kip was intent on helping students (and everyone else) engage in, and the storytelling adventures that Trevor was so intent on developing. With a shared passion for Service and Stories, CompassionWorx was ready to launch.

Advisors

CompassionWorx has established a Board of Advisors with combined experience in strategy, management, technology and corporate finance, along with leaders in the fields of Education and Community Service. The Board of Advisors plays an active role in assisting the management team in the development and execution of CompassionWorx' business plan.
